Work Experience
SEPTEMBER, 2017 – PRESENT | Nanny-Family Assistant | Private Family | Chevy Chase, MD
- I provide energetic, educational, and enthusiastic care to a family of five, beginning when the first of their 3 children was 6 months old.
- I am flexible and accommodating in my schedule, pitching in whatever may arise.
- My position involves frequent travel, managing schedules, overnight stays of up to ten days when parents are out of town, close relationships with extended family, and taking initiative to make sure things run smoothly.
- Together, this family and I navigated the pandemic, the arrival of two additional children, competitive school admissions processes, and a great deal of domestic travel, all with a spirit of enthusiastic connection and cooperation.
SEPTEMBER, 2013 – SEPTEMBER, 2017 | Nanny-Family Assistant | Private Family | Orlando, Florida
- Beginning when children were 3 and 4 years old, and continuing through the birth of a third child, I provided full-service childcare and family assisting to a dual-career family with an unpredictable schedule.
- This job leaned heavily on my organizational skills and I assisted with transitions into school, two moves into new homes, the birth of a new baby, and many, many trips to Walt Disney World.
- I approached everything with a “how can I help?” spirit, from organizing the home, to grocery shopping, to maintaining the vehicles.
2012-2013 | Nanny | Private Family | Manhattan
- In partnership with another full-time nanny, I provided care to an infant and a toddler in a busy family.
- This role required extensive domestic and international travel, weekly overnight stays, and maintaining the ambiance of a fine home.
2010-2012 | Nanny | Private Family | Washington, DC
- I provided quality, dynamic childcare to two school-aged boys in a warm and loving family in Washington, DC, with frequent trips to New York City.
- I prepared the children for competitive school admissions processes and placed a high emphasis on their academic success, assisting with homework and extracurricular activities daily.
- I maintained close relationships with grandparents who lived next door. I collaborated with the parents and grandparents to instill values of a strong ethical compass, academic rigor, and joyful creativity in the boys.
- I engaged with two very different children as the individuals they are, tailoring my approach to help each reach his goals and potential.
2008-2010 | Nanny-Family Assistant | Private Family | Gainesville, FL
- Following the unexpected death of this family’s mother two days after giving birth to her second child, I paused my education to transition from part-time babysitter to full-time, live-in caregiver for a toddler, a newborn, and their grieving father.
- Responsibilities included participation in running the household and emotional, practical, and developmental support for children enduring the death of a parent.
